By this time in the year, many of us are well aware of all the ways that we may not have measured up to what we’d hoped for 11 months ago. Some goals aren’t met, others are yet to even be attempted.

But that doesn’t mean there hasn’t been growth, and that’s why grace is necessary for growth, both for ourselves and for one another.

Grace fills the gaps between what we expect and what we experience, so when someone else falls short, we apply grace to that shortcoming. We do it for ourselves, too, when the reality of our lives is less than what we’d expected.

So don’t be afraid to examine yourself during this season, and give yourself the grace necessary to dust off the failures or the falls, and then get ready to give it another go. Righteous people fall, but they always rise again.
