I run about 4 times a week.

Assuming 3 meals and a couple of snacks a day, I eat about 10 times that much in a week.

I thought about that during my run this morning. I thought about the myth that I can outrun poor nutrition. Maybe there was an age when I could, but whatever age that was isn’t my age anymore.

Input matters because it fuels output.

What are you taking in? What are you feeding your soul? Your mind? What’s fueling your relationship with God? With others?

I realized this morning that I don’t have good eating habits and that I’ve tried to convince myself that it’s okay because I run 4 times a week.

Maybe you have poor habits in other areas of your life, and you’ve tried to convince yourself that it’s okay because you do good things, too.

But doing some good doesn’t cancel the effects of doing more bad. That’s like me running a mile and then eating a whole pizza and telling myself it’s ok because I’m a runner. Sure, I ran, but I’m still going to gain some weight and lose some health.

Change the input, and you’ll change the outcome.
