Reading Time: < 1 minute

We’re slowly watching our national pastime change from baseball to being offended. It’s everywhere and it’s a disease that has the potential to take our country down from the inside out.

Jesus told His followers that offenses would certainly come (Luke 17:1, CSB), and don’t we see it all the time? Doesn’t our culture bear out the truth of Jesus’ words? It’s almost impossible to say or do anything without someone being offended.

Think about this though: offenses are fences. What Jesus wasn’t saying was that it’s inevitable for all of us to live behind fences, angry at the jerks on the other side. What He was saying is that the opportunity to build that fence is inevitable. All of us will be presented with building materials – a misunderstood comment here, a misconstrued glance there – and many of us will use them to build fences.

I want to encourage you to be among the few who tear those fences down and use the material to build bridges instead.
